DATUK Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad has called for a thorough investigation into the death of a medical specialist in Lahad Datu following allegations of workplace bullying.
The health minister said that all staff in the Health Ministry deserve a safe and fair working environment.
“I have had a zero-tolerance (policy for) bullying since 2018 and remain committed to it,” he wrote on X.
The minister’s statement followed reports of the doctor’s death on August 29, just six months after she became head of the hospital’s chemical pathology unit.
Lahad Datu district police chief Dzulbaharin Ismail said foul play was not suspected in the case of the specialist found dead in her home. The case was classified as sudden death.
“We are still waiting for the report from the chemistry department, after which we will forward the case to the coroner for the next course of action,” he told The Star.
This comes after a family member alleged on Facebook that the doctor had been bullied in Lahad Datu Hospital following her transfer there in February. – September 16, 2024.
