Penang’s Aidilfitri open house sees vibrant celebrations

BUTTERWORTH: The Penang International Convention Cultural & Arts Centre (PICCA) was bustling with activity during the Penang Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak’s Aidilfitri Open House celebrations.

More than 3,000 guests, including VIPs in their finest Hari Raya and traditional attire, attended the event on Thursday (April 10).

Ahmad Fuzi and his wife, Toh Puan Khadijah Mohd Nor, arrived at about 3.20pm and were welcomed by Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.

Other VIPs present included state speaker Datuk Seri Law Choo Kiang, Deputy Chief Minister 1 Datuk Dr Mohamad Abdul Hamid, state secretary Datuk Zulkifli Long, and former Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.

Inside the grand ballroom, an array of festive delicacies was served, including lemang, ketupat, rendang, and traditional kuih-muih.

Warm greetings were exchanged as attendees embraced the spirit of forgiveness and togetherness.

Guests were also treated to a delectable array of food such as laksa, lemang, satay, mee goreng, char koay teow, popiah, apom balik, roti jala, and ais kacang.

The festive atmosphere prevailed with Hari Raya Aidilfitri decorations while singers serenaded the crowd with festive numbers.

Some 15 booths featuring local food were stationed outside PICCA’s grand ballroom, offering over 20 delicious options to the multiracial guests.
