THE National Union of Bank Employees (Nube) has lodged a police report against a bank in Kuala Lumpur for allegedly obstructing union activities.

In a statement, Nube’s general secretary, J Solomon, said that on September 7, the union held a peaceful protest in line with activities permitted by law.

“We observed that police tape had been placed on the public pavement in front of the bank in question, giving the impression that it had been done under police orders.

“We strongly believe this was not the action of the police, but rather the bank’s management, who had done this to falsely suggest that the police were attempting to hinder union activities,” he said.

Solomon added that Nube is convinced the tape was put up by the bank’s management, led by its Group CEO and president.

“They did this to intimidate and deter our members from participating in union activities.

“Nube has lodged a police report, and we urge the police to investigate this matter,” he said. – September 13, 2024.
